AN airline worker who slipped and fell on an oil slick on the apron at Dublin Airport has lost her £30,000 personal injuries claim against Aer Rianta.

Judge James Carroll in the Circuit Civil Court held that, while Ms Violet Hanrahan (29), of Slievemore Road, Drimnagh, had broken and dislocated her shoulder in the fall, he could not hold the airport authority responsible.

He had heard evidence that - "an elaborate" apron cleaning operation was carried out 15 times a day, satisfying him that Aer Rianta had discharged its duty of taking reasonable care.

"One cannot expect Aer Rianta to have a man constantly patrolling the apron on the lookout for oil slicks," Judge Carroll said.
