More than 80 airport fire chiefs from across Europe will gather in Dublin today to discuss firefighting and rescue techniques.
The two-day meeting involving aviation experts will hear about new technology, training practices, recovery of aircraft and examination of specific evacuation and recovery scenarios.
The conference, at the Great Southern Hotel, will be hosted by Dublin Airport Authority's chief fire officer Gerry Keogh.
"Now that the skies have become more and more busy it is critical that passengers have confidence in the emergency and rescue services that all airports provide," said Mr Keogh.
"As aircraft are getting bigger and more sophisticated the importance of keeping abreast of the latest fire and rescue technology together with sharing of airport experiences in the area of aircraft rescue and recovery cannot be overstated."
