London - Egyptian tycoon Mr Mohamed Al Fayed expects a Home Office ruling on whether he can become a British citizen today, his spokesman said last night. Solicitors acting for the Harrods owner expect to hear from officials at noon, said Mr Laurie Mayer.
The announcement will come on the day Mr Al Fayed's lawyers are due to ask the High Court for a judicial review of the way his application has been handled. Mr Mayer said Mr Al Fayed hoped it would end his five-year pursuit of a British passport but if it did not he would continue with the legal case.
