Port Moresby - The US Secretary of State, Ms Madeleine Albright, yesterday arrived in the Papua New Guinea capital on the first visit by a senior US official in 20 years.
Garlanded with flowers, Ms Albright was greeted by warriors in traditional dress, as well as native dancers and musicians, from Nakeo, Enga and the Highlands provinces. Some of the warriors had added a more modern touch with small US flags attached to their finery.
During her visit Ms Albright will look at US aid to help rebuild north-western communities devastated by a tsunami tidal wave which flattened several villages on July 17th and left at least 1,600 dead.
