Philippine President Ms Gloria Arroyo today agreed two fugitives wanted for a failed grab at power could campaign for Senate elections without fear of arrest.
President Arroyo conveyed her decision to opposition campaigner Mr Agapito Aquino who had asked that former police chief Mr Panfilo Lacson and Senator Gregorio Honasan be given safe conduct passes in the run up to Monday's senate elections.
Mr Lacson and Mr Honasan went into hiding last week after Ms Arroyo ordered their arrest accusing them of a plot to besiege the presidential palace.
