Equestrian:Meath's Kellie Allen has won individual gold in the pony European show jumping championships in Moorsele, Belgium riding the pure-bred Connemara Ballyowen Maybell Molly.

The 16-year-old from Kells, a member of the Irish team which won silver on Saturday, carried four faults through to today’s final rounds. She went clear in both with Anthony McCormack’s seven-year-old grey mare by Monaghanstown Fred and then in a jump-off beat Denmark’s Christiane Tetzlaff and the Irish-bred Murphy’s Flight. The bronze medal went to Britain’s Chad Fellows who was on a score of five

Earlier today, Joseph O’Brien won individual bronze in the pony European eventing championships The 16-year-old, who is apprenticed to his father Aidan at Ballydoyle and has ridden five winners on the flat this season, went into the final phase in second place but Ice Cool Bailey unfortunately had the last fence down for a completion score of 47.30. Gold went to Germany’s Jule Wewer (41.70) with the host nation’s Pieter Kenis winning silver (45.70).

The Irish team finished sixth of the nine nations competing at the championships.
