Robert Allenby finally walked away from the 72nd hole a winner last night, capturing his second US PGA Tour title of the season and fourth of his career at the Pennsylvania Classic.
Never seriously threatened in the final round, Allenby carded a four-under-par 68. All three of his previous US tour wins came in play-offs, where his record stands at 7-0 worldwide.
Allenby took a three-shot lead into the final round at the weather-plagued event and never saw it dwindle en route to the 594,000-dollar top prize.
"This is by far the best I've consistently, shot after shot, just peppering the flag every time," said Allenby, who began the week ranked 31st in the world.
Former Masters champion Larry Mize matched the low round of the day with a seven-under 65 and tied local favorite Rocco Mediate for second place at 16-under 272.
Kevin Sutherland was alone in fourth at 273, one stroke better than Nick Price of Zimbabwe.
