The death has taken place of Mr John Burke, the Irish Ambassador to Portugal

The death has taken place of Mr John Burke, the Irish Ambassador to Portugal. Mr Burke died, following a short illnesses, in Lisbon on Saturday. A Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman said Mr Burke had been ambassador to Portugal since June this year and before that he served as chief of protocol in Dublin. Originally from Galway, he is survived by his wife Dorothy, and children Barbara, Jennifer, Sarah and Edward. The removal will take place this evening at 7 p.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Greystones. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 11 a.m.
