Ambulance carrying pregnant woman hits car

An ambulance taking a pregnant woman to a maternity hospital collided with a car in Dublin City centre this morning.

An ambulance taking a pregnant woman to a maternity hospital collided with a car in Dublin City centre this morning.

The ambulance was en route to the Rotunda Hospital when it collided with the car on O'Connell Bridge shortly after 9am.

Up to three gardaí are understood to have been directing traffic on the busy junction between Westmoreland Street and O'Connell Bridge at the time of the incident.

The woman was taken in another ambulance to the Rotunda Hospital. She is not believed to have been seriously hurt in the incident.

A male occupant of the car was taken to St James's Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
