Thirty-four people were killed today in an attack on a civilian bus and army camp in Indian-administered Kashmir.
The massacre was likely carried out by the Pakistan-based movement Jaish-e-Mohammad, an army official claimed.
Jaish-e-Mohammad, or the Prophet's Army, is one of the two Pakistan-based groups India blamed for an attack on its parliament December 13th.
The attack happened near Jammu, Kashmir's Hindu-majority winter capital, according to the Press Trust of India.
The army official said three militants who had attacked the bus and then stormed the camp were shot dead by Indian troops. Soldiers found automatic rifles, ammunition and Pakistan-made chocolates, he said.
Nuclear-armed India and Pakistan have deployed about one million troops to the common borders, with New Delhi demanding a crackdown on the infiltration of militants into Kashmir before it pulls its forces back.
