Not so much a purveyor of Americana as a deft exponent of melancholic American pop music, Joe Pernice has been taking refuge in various outfits such as the Scud Mountain Boys, a side project Chappaquiddick Skyline and his own Pernice Brothers. Running golden-thread-like through these records is a subtly croaking, distinctive voice and a sombre, poetic worldview. Accompanying Pernice on his forthcoming brief Irish tour is Peter Bruntnell, an English Americana-influenced singer/songwriter who wowed 'em at this year's Kilkenny Rhythm & Roots festival. Separately, either artist is a cracker. As a double bill, they're not to be missed. The tour dates are: Whelan's, Dublin, next Friday September 8th, The Lobby, Cork, September 9th, Pine Lodge, Myrtleville, September 10th, Roisin Dubh, Galway, September 11th, Dolan's Warehouse, Limerick, September 12th and Cleere's, Kilkenny, September 13th.
