The 66-acre site near Kentstown - between Duleek and Navan - will accept 132,000 tonnes of waste per annum until 2007.

After that the amount of waste received will be cut to 88,000 tonnes.

A number of local groups had been campaigning against the project, and appeals against the granting of a licence were lodged by the Boyne Valley and Newgrange Protection League, among others.
