The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Andrews, is today expected to meet church leaders, Dr Sean Brady and Dr Robin Eames, for separate discussions in Armagh.

As part of his two-day trip to Northern Ireland, the Minister will also have discussions on the peace process with the SDLP deputy leader, Mr Seamus Mallon. He is also expected to have further talks with the Northern Secretary, Dr Mo Mowlam.

Following the announcement that she will meet loyalist prisoners in the Maze prison tomorrow, a Government spokesman said the move was a matter for the British government. However, her decision to have direct talks with the prisoners "reflects a concern for the process", the spokesman added.

He described yesterday's exchanges between Mr Andrews and the PUP leadership in Belfast as "very good and positive".
