Anglo Irish Bank has confirmed the appointment of Peter Rossiter as the financial institution's new chief risk officer.
Mr Rossiter, who has worked with Citigroup for the past years and has built up considerable experience in international banking and risk management, will take up the role on November 2nd.
The appointment follows the confirmation of Australian banker Mike Aynsley as chief executive of the nationalised bank.
A chartered accountant, Mr Rossiter holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from Trinity College Dublin. He was recently employed as chief risk officer of Citigroup subsidiary Citi Handlowy in Poland and has also held senior risk management roles for Citigroup in Moscow, Istanbul, Brussels and London, in addition to being a corporate banker in London, Brussels, Saudi Arabia and Ireland.
Chairman of Anglo Irish Bank Donal O'Connor said Mr Rossiter's appointment represented an important step in establishing a management team to lead the bank in meeting the "considerable challenges" the bank faces.
The bank, which was nationalised in January, has been hit by controversy over €7.5 billion in back-to-back deposits with Irish Life Permanent, and a secretive share transaction over a 10 per cent stake in the bank.
