It could be the last gig of the summer but also the one worth waiting for.
Slane Castle owner Lord Henry Mountcharles yesterday said he has kept “one date open” for one particular act.
“I am still holding one date in 2012 and it is a possibility that might be a show but at this stage, I can’t hold the date for much longer,” he said yesterday.
“I am extremely careful about choosing a headline act and, until I am convinced I have made the right choice, I will never confirm a show, but in this case, time is running out and I will be making an announcement regarding this year in the very near future.”
He is known for his love of rock. U2, the Rolling Stones, Queen, Robbie Williams and most recently Kings of Leon have ensured sell-out and memorable concerts for the 80,000 ticket holders.
Each event requires a licence from Meath County Council and weeks of preparation. A definitive announcement on a concert this year is expected in the coming days.
A source close to Slane Castle said the date being held was August 25th. It is the the last Saturday before school reopens and a weekend that traditionally marks the end of the summer holidays.
