AN anti-drug campaigner remanded in custody at Rathfarnham District Court yesterday was later granted bail in the High Court.
Mr Michael Warner (40), of Knockmore Park, Tallaght, was before the District Court with Mr Denis Brunt (43), of Donamore Park, and Mr Cecil Johnston (40), of Donamore Crescent, also of Tallaght, Dublin, on charges of unlawfully and maliciously wounding a man at Donamore Avenue on October 8th last.
When the case was called the solicitor for the State said the book of evidence was not ready, and asked for a remand.
Mr Brunt and Mr Johnston were remanded on continuing bail until January 13th, while Mr Warner, who had been refused bail, was remanded in custody. Mr Warner then travelled to the High Court to challenge the decision to refuse him bail.
About 30 people, including several children, were outside the District Court to support the three men, but there were no placards and no demonstration. They joined the men inside when the court sitting began.
