In the book entitled 'A Pocket History of the IRA' written by Mr Brendan O'Brien and published by the O'Brien Press Ltd., reference is made to the so-called Arms Crisis of 1970.

At page 78 of the O'Brien Press Ltd. publication, statements are made about Captain James Kelly formerly of Irish Intelligence. Mr Brendan O'Brien and theO'Brien Press Ltd. now accept that Captain James Kelly did not bring a consignment of arms into Dublin in March/April 1970 or at any time. They much regret the unfortunate statement in the hook that it was an "undisputed fact" that he had done so. They assure all readers of the work that this is false and ask them to disregard it.

The author and publishers accept that Captain James Kelly acted with total propriety throughout his career as an officer of the Irish Army. Specifically they accept that he acted with the full authority of his lawful superiors throughout his period as an Intelligence Officer. The author and publishersunreservedly apologise to Captain James Kelly and his family for this reference to Captain James Kelly.
