Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to a Luas crash yesterday evening which left a woman seriously injured.
The woman, who is in her 30s, was struck by a Luas travelling inbound on the red line at the platform at the Blackhorse tram stop in Dublin shortly after 8pm.
She was removed to St James’s Hospital, where her condition is said to be serious.
Gardaí are asking anyone who was travelling on the Luas line or in the vicinity of the Black Horse Luas stop yesterday evening between 7.45pm and 8.15pm to contact them at Sundrive Road Garda station on 01 666 6600, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
A spokeswoman for Veolia Transport, the company which operates the Luas, said last night it would be carrying out an investigation into the incident and had contacted the Railway Safety Commission and Rail Accident Investigative unit.
Luas services between the Red Cow and Heuston were disrupted for a time last night but were operational this morning.
