A development worker with experience in Africa and Asia, as well as in Ireland, has been appointed chief executive of the Irish Refugee Council. Mr Peter O'Mahony, a native of Killarney, Co Kerry, will take up his position on November 8th.
With qualifications in education and development studies, Mr O'Mahony has many years' experience in development work, having directed projects with Concern and the Save the Children Fund in Africa and Asia.
Having moved back to Ireland in recent years, he worked as a planner with the Carmichael House Centre for Voluntary Groups in Dublin and subsequently as co-ordinator of a local development programme in Co Kerry.
