Palestinian leader Mr Yasser Arafat warned today that all violators of a ceasefire agreed by the Palestinian Authority and Israel will be arrested.

"Any person who violates Palestinian decisions will be arrested, whether it be someone important or just anybody," Mr Arafat told reporters after talks with Arab League chief Amr Mussa in the Egyptian capital.

The Palestinian Authority on Sunday arrested four members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the West Bank, following appeals for respect of the ceasefire for the sake of the Palestinian cause.

Israeli Foreign Minister Mr Shimon Peres met with Mr Arafat on September 26th to consolidate a ceasefire agreed by the two sides.

Earlier two Palestinians were shot and killed by Israeli soldiers in separate incidents in the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian hospital sources.

One of the Palestinians was killed near the Jewish settlement of Netzarim in the central Gaza Strip and the second near the Palestinian sector of Beit Hanoun in the north.

Their deaths bring to 869 the number of people killed in just over a year of the Palestinian uprising, or intifada. Of those, 670 have been Palestinians and 176 Israelis.
