Archbishop Diarmuid Martin ordained his first priest for the Dublin Diocese.
Victor Fitzpatrick (28), was ordained in a ceremony at the Church of the Resurrection, Bayside this afternoon.
"Today is a great day for Victor's family," said Dr Martin.
"It is a great day for this lively parish community of the Church of the Resurrection in Bayside, which sees yet another of its sons called to the priesthood. This is a great day for the Presbyterium of Dublin. I have been meeting priests who have been ministering to the people of the diocese for over fifty years, in season and out.
"I am humbled by the dedication and enthusiasm that they have shown and still show today. I ask you all to give thanks for the ministry of these faithful priests who have given their lives to the preaching of the Gospel."
Dr Martin told the new priest he would join in a great tradition of service and that the priests of the diocese welcomed him joyfully.
