London - Lord Archer will not be sent to an open prison because he has been re-classified as a higher security risk following a new police inquiry into his affairs, prison sources said yesterday. The peer, jailed for four years for perjury and perverting the course of justice, was initially made a Category D prisoner suitable for an open jail.
But he has been made a Category C inmate since Scotland Yard confirmed last week that it is examining allegations that millions of pounds went missing from a fundraising campaign run by Archer, sources said.
