Armed cash-in-transit raid in Dublin

A car has been recovered by gardaí investigating the armed robbery of a cash-in-transit van in Dublin today.

A car has been recovered by gardaí investigating the armed robbery of a cash-in-transit van in Dublin today.

The robbery took place at about 8am at Blakestown, Blanchardstown.

Two men, who are understood to have been armed with an iron bar and an imitation firearm, approached the van and threatened the driver before taking a cash box.

The men escaped in a car which was later recovered and taken to be examined by a Garda technical team. The cash box has not been located. The sum taken has not been revealed.

There were no injuries during the incident.
