Garda∅ were last night searching for an armed raider who led them on a high-speed car chase through Carlow after robbing a jewellers in the town centre. A number of motorists were slightly injured when two men driving the stolen vehicle rammed traffic on the main street. The raiders abandoned the car on a housing estate on the outskirts of the town.
One man, aged 27 and from Dublin, was arrested, but his companion remained at large last night. Jewellery, thought to be worth £15,000, was recovered. The arrested man was being questioned under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
