An armed gang posing as road workers today hijacked a security van in north Dublin, Gardaí said.
The men took over the van in Conquer Hill Road at around 3 p.m., and drove away with its driver and one passenger on board.
The two occupants of the van, who were not injured, were released shortly afterwards.
Officers said the van was later found abandoned in St John Rogersons Quay containing a firearm and around eight tonnes of coins.
