A MAN was arrested in Dublin yesterday after the patrol car of gardai investigating a spate of tyre slashing was damaged.

The tyres of about 60 cars in Coolock were slashed or punctured early yesterday. Gardai investigating the crime later called to a house in the area, and during a confrontation with one of the residents windows of their patrol car were smashed. One man was arrested at the scene.

The tyre slashing around Tonlegee Park and Woodbine Avenue took place between 1.30a.m. and 5 a.m. yesterday.

Gardai are investigating whether the slashing was linked to the seizure of a car by officers the previous evening.
