A man was being questioned at a Dublin garda station last night after a shooting in the west of the city early yesterday.

A man was being questioned at a Dublin garda station last night after a shooting in the west of the city early yesterday.

The 26-year-old victim of the attack underwent surgery on a leg wound at Beaumont Hospital, where his condition was described as "stable".

The shooting happened at Fortlawn Avenue, Blanchardstown, at about 6.20 a.m.

Gardaí believe more than one attacker was involved in the incident.

A man was arrested and was being detained overnight at Blanchardstown Garda station.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the James Connolly Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Beaumont for surgery.

His injuries are not life-threatening. Gardaí declined to speculate on a motive for the attack or to give details of the weapon used.
