GARDAI investigating the murder of Det Garda Jerry McCabe continued to make arrests yesterday, bringing the number of people detained to 18.
A Limerick woman was held in Dun Laoghaire yesterday morning and brought to Henry Street Station in Limerick where her brother was being questioned by officers.
Another man was also arrested in Limerick yesterday, and brought to Henry Street Station.
In addition, gardai discovered a bag containing electrical components, believed to be used for bomb making by the IRA, during a search of a field outside Toomevara, Co Tipperary.
The equipment was found about 300 yards north of Toomevara but no arrests were reported in connection with this discovery.
Searches and arrests are continuing throughout the country three known IRA members from Limerick, north Cork and Shannon whom gardai have linked to Garda McCabe's murder.
Meanwhile, gardai in Limerick say a fire bomb attack on the offices of the Limerick State Solicitor, Mr Michael Murray, early yesterday morning is not connected with the murder investigation.
A man due to appear on appeal at the Limerick Circuit Court yesterday was arrested but released without charge after being questioned about the fire.
The outbreak of fire was seen shortly before 1 a.m. and a man was taken in for questioning at 2.30 a.m.
None of the key files in the offices were damaged but several separate files were destroyed.
A file on the matter is prepared for the DPP.
The attack follows another incident in which a fire bomb thrown at a garda's home and paint daubed on the walls of his house in Limerick at the weekend.
