Dublin-born ceramic artist Deirdre McLoughlin, based in Amsterdam for 10 years, has exhibited infrequently in Ireland, though a major show of her work, toured three venues, North and South, in 1993-94. McLoughlin makes beautifully judged, meticulously finished abstract sculptures that have earned the praise of such experts as Mike Robinson of the Ulster Museum and ceramic artist Sonja Landweer. The spare, elegant forms are essentially abstract, though they have an organic quality and, she says, are in part inspired by human anatomical details. Her work is on show at Antoinette Murphy's new gallery, the Peppercannister, 3 Herbert St, Dublin until December 1.
