An art event which sees up to 5,000 images and 950 artists launched onto the Internet takes place in Arthouse, in Temple Bar. All the contributing artists to the website are invited to witness the global launch of www.artifact.ie - "the most up-to-date website of Irish artistic practice in the world". Will they turn up?

Dubliner Elaine Leader, whose studio is in Temple Bar, is here, along with her friend and studio partner, Alison Pilkington, from Sligo. Another emerging artist, Leah Beggs, from Blackrock, says her paintings are now hanging in the bedrooms of the Stephen's Hall Hotel on Lower Leeson Street. Now the database is about to go into cyberspace. Michael Kelly, a photographic artist, hasn't signed up for inclusion yet but he's going to.

Video artist Pauline Cummins says "it's important for all artists because it means your work can be seen from all over the world".
