As politicians concentrate on rescuing banks and financiers, the first cases of severe malnutrition are appearing among Asia's youngest, Mr Kul Gautam, director of UNICEF for East Asia and the Pacific, said yesterday. He said hunger was widespread among children in Indonesia.
