Manila - The suspected author of the "ILOVEYOU" virus, the most destructive computer virus to attack the Internet, may have escaped state punishment but victims can still file civil suits against him, a Philippine state prosecutor said yesterday.
"Nobody can preclude them [complainants] from filing a case. If the evidence can sustain a civil case, they can file a civil case. We do not rule out the filing of a civil case," said a senior state prosecutor, Mr Archimedes Manabat.
