WORKERS AT aviation ground handling firm Aviance are facing pay cuts of between 15 and 20 per cent as part of a rescue package aimed at securing 150 jobs.
Siptu members at the firm are to ballot on the proposals at the Dublin airport-based operation.
The workforce was presented with the measures at a meeting yesterday. The proposals were put forward by Siptu at talks with management over recent days.
While the union was last night hopeful the changes would be accepted, civil aviation sector organiser Dermot O'Loughlin said the ballot was "too close to call".
The result of the ballot is expected at 4.30pm today.
On Tuesday the firm said it was ceasing operations from March with the loss of 150 jobs, but following talks with Siptu, new survival proposals were finalised yesterday morning.
