The first stage of industrial action by staff at insurance company Aviva over planned large-scale job losses will take place today.
The trade union Unite said its members had been instructed not to participate or co-operate in any projects or undertake any form of work that would enable or facilitate the transfer of work out of Aviva Ireland to any other Aviva company or any other organisation.
Members have also been told not to participate in performance coaching programmes. The industrial action could be escalated in the weeks ahead.
Aviva is planning to cut its workforce here by nearly 1,000 and has proposed the possible outsourcing up to 300 additional posts.
