Soccer:Under-pressure West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola has urged the club's owners to either give him their full backing or hand the job to someone else.

The Hammers' 3-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Wolves on Tuesday means they are just three points clear of Burnley and Hull City at the wrong end of the Premier League table.

Although David Sullivan blasted the team's display as 'shambolic' fellow co-owner David Gold insists he is only looking forwards and not dwelling on the past.

Zola insists he is giving his all to help West Ham retain their Premier League status, but he would have no qualms stepping aside should the duo want to go in a new direction.

The Italian tactician has questioned himself in recent weeks and is trying to stay positive by confirming he will not walk away from the challenge of turning around the Hammers' season.

"Maybe the job I am doing is not good - but I do it with honesty," said Zola. "If it is not good just tell me. I have no problem with that.

"I have been thinking about this situation and have been saying 'what the hell is going on here?'. I understand the chairman is very much concerned about the situation.

"We are not in a very good position and he is concerned. I am concerned as much as him. I have faith in the players I am working with.

"I question myself: Am I doing everything I can? And I have to say yes, I am doing it with passion. I am doing it with honesty.

"While I can see that I can do something good for this club, I am not going to walk away. A lot has been happening but, if I can be helpful, then why shouldn't I be here?

"So why should I be kicking myself or banging my head against the wall? I love the game and I have a fair approach to it. Something things don't work. I don't understand. Jesus Christ, it is a football game."
