A 15-year-old boy charged with dangerously driving a stolen car which crashed into a taxi, a Garda car and a moped carrying a seven-year-old girl on the back, has been further remanded on bail pending the preparation of evidence.
The boy had been charged with dangerous driving and the unlawful taking of the car under Section 53 and 112 of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Dublin Children's Court had heard.
Due to the seriousness of the charges, a judge had refused to hear the case in the Children's Court and the State was ordered to prepare and serve the boy with a book of evidence before the case is sent to the Circuit Court.
The court was told the teenager led gardaí on a lengthy chase in which he broke several red lights and stop signs before crashing on a busy road.
It was alleged that the car was taken after its owner pulled into his driveway and momentarily went into his house in Tallaght. In the meantime, however, the boy came by and took his car.
When he reversed out the driveway, he was spotted by gardaí in a patrol van who took up pursuit.
But the stolen car failed to stop for the gardaí, the court heard.
The chase continued for some 20 minutes; the boy broke several red lights and went through residential estates and green areas.
He entered a by-pass, west of Tallaght, but then crashed into a taxi and a Garda squad car before hitting an oncoming moped.
Its driver was carrying a girl, aged seven, as a passenger and she suffered minor injuries in the collision.
Judge Catherine Murphy was told yesterday that the book of evidence in the case was not ready and could not be furnished.
She allowed one further adjournment for the State to prepare its case and remanded the boy on bail until February 17th.
