The Dublin woman, Ms Elaine Moore (21), was further remanded on conditional bail until October 15th at Belmarsh Magistrates' Court yesterday. The prosecution indicated that it could be ready to set a date for committal proceedings in a month.

Ms Moore is charged with conspiracy to cause explosions and possession of explosives with Mr Liam Patrick Grogan (21), of Naas, Co Kildare, and Mr Anthony Hyland (25), of no address. A fourth defendant, Mr Darren Mulholland (19), of Dundalk, Co Louth, is charged with conspiracy to cause explosions. An application to extend custody time limits presented by Ms Carol Wiseman for the Crown Prosecution Service was accepted, and the three men were remanded in custody at Belmarsh high-security prison until October 22nd. Ms Wiseman told the magistrate, Mr David Cooper, that it was necessary to apply for an extension of custody time limits given the "long and slow process" of compiling evidence.

Some 532 statements had been taken. The police were sifting through 1,200 exhibits, and 103 fingerprints were being examined at a forensic laboratory, a photographic laboratory and an explosives laboratory. Other sets of fingerprints, about 350, were being examined and 38 had been identified as belonging to the defendants. She said four police reports prepared for the CPS included surveillance videos of the defendants. Some 150 videos, seized from CCTV cameras in shops, airports and offices showing the defendants were being compiled, and the police would be ready to edit them within the next 10 days.

One statement, she said, would relate to video footage of a meeting between Mr Hyland and Mr Grogan that would be supported by a statement by a lip-reader identifying what was said. Ms Moore's solicitor, Ms Gareth Peirce, told the court that she was "most anxious" there should be "no slippage" in setting a date for the next hearing. Three bail sureties for Ms Moore, amounting to £70,000, were re-signed in court.
