Regional authorities in Spain's Balearic islands were dismayed to find the archipelago had been "wiped off" the map of Europe in sketches for the new single currency, the euro.
"The oversight may be funny, but it is a symbol of the traditional political indifference of the European Union towards island regions," Mr Antoni Rami of the regional executive said.
He called on the Spanish Foreign Minister, Mr Abel Matutes, himself a native of the Balearic island of Ibiza, to try to ensure that the oversight was rectified in Brussels.
