Staff at Dublin airport are to begin voting on proposals today which could result in the full implementation of Ryanair's new online check-in system by the middle of next week.

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) has agreed to grant a range of outstanding issues concerning the terms and conditions of 350 airport security workers, according to Christy McQuillan, Siptu branch organiser at the airport.

If these proposals are approved security workers will implement the online facility from Wednesday. "This goodwill towards the e-boarding system generates itself out of these long-standing issues being addressed," said Mr McQuillan.

Following a meeting with the DAA last week, at which a list of proposals were agreed by the airport search unit, some 100 airport workers yesterday agreed to conduct a ballot from today until next Tuesday.
