A SPECIAL service was held in Bandon, west Cork, yesterday in memory of a murdered father of four from England whose body was dumped in the river Bandon last November.

John Forrester (42) was beaten and stabbed before being thrown into the river. His hands and feet had been bound with rope and he was wrapped in a rug in a bid to weigh his body down.

Mr Forrester, originally from Lincolnshire, had been living in Ireland for about four years. His body was discovered on November 15th last after gardaí became concerned about his whereabouts as they investigated the murder of another man in the town, Jonathan Duke.

A service was held at Gabriel and O’Donovan’s funeral home in Bandon yesterday morning. It was officiated by Pastor Brian Synnott of Elim Pentecostal Church, with Church of Ireland Rev Denis McCarthy also in attendance along with local priest Fr Myles McSweeney.
