The death toll from a ferry sinking in Bangladesh three days ago is now over 270.
The United News of Bangladesh reported that 286 bodies have been recovered from the Meghna River.

Bodies are surfacing on the river or have been found inside the MV Salahuddinferry after it was lifted from the river bed and towed to shore. Bodies that remain unidentified will be buried in a mass grave at the last port of call.

The MV Salahuddincapsized and sank in a rainstorm on Friday night. It had 400 people aboard, police said. At least 100 people were rescued by passing boats or managed to swim ashore.
