Bank of Ireland has unveiled a €500 million investment fund dedicated to the environment and renewable energy sector.
Mr Padraig Rushe, of Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking, said over €6 billion will be invested in environment-related projects in Ireland over the next five years.
To cater for this market, the bank has set up a specialist unit to advise investors in green investments.
Mr Rushe said renewable energy sources such as wind have strong growth potential especially in the context of the Kyoto protocol.
