CHICAGO – A bungling robber gave investigators a huge helping hand in their probe into a Chicago bank heist – by writing the threatening note he handed to a clerk on a pay slip, the FBI has reported.
A man walked into a Fifth Third Bank on Friday and, according to the FBI, handed a teller a note.It read: “Be quick, be quiet. Give your cash or I’ll shoot.” The man got about $400 (€280) but left half of his note, the affidavit said.
Investigators found the other half outside the bank. Authorities say part of the man’s October pay stub had his name and address.
The suspect was arrested and a judge ordered him held without bond. If convicted of bank robbery, he faces 20 years in prison. – (AP)
