The Hay festival will be held in Co Meath this year – in the home of the Book of Kells. The festival planned for June 28th-30th will bring together authors from around the world as well as Ireland. Among those confirmed for the event are Booker winners John Banville and DBC Pierre.
The Hay Festival is an international celebration of literature and the arts in the broadest sense. The original festival in Wales is held over 11 days each year and incorporates more than 700 events including book reviews, literary discussions, debates on current affairs, stand-up comedy and music.
Film, children’s literature, exhibitions, artistic awards and culinary demonstrations are also part of the event.
Since 2003, the Hay Festival has successfully exported its format overseas and there are now events in Spain, Latin America, Africa, Asia and Lebanon.
