Barcelona today officially declared the end of their interest in Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
The club issued a statement on their website www.fcbarcelona.com, stating they would not be pursuing the Dutchman any further even though Louis van Gaal has spoken of the need to sign an additional striker.
"In agreement with the wishes of the coaching staff, we have been analysing the possibility of one last player," said the statement.
"We have spoken to clubs with whom we have a good relationship, such as Chelsea, to study the possibility of incorporating a centre forward.
"These talks have not reached a positive conclusion due to the considerable differences between the two parties.
"FC Barcelona has decided against the signing and considers the squad ready to face this season's competition with guarantees."
