Engineering and plastics group Barlo said today its sees an improved performance across its businesses from last year's difficult market conditions.

Barlo reported interim operating profit rose by 15 per cent to €7.5 million on turnover of €146.4 million - an increase of 2 per cent. Today's results cover the six months to September 30th.

The company said its plastics business was performing ahead of forecasts but that the radiator business was hit by severe pricing pressures in all markets. The group's cash generation was described as "satisfactory" and net debt was reduced by €8.9 million to €131.8 million.

A company statement said it believes that the recovery achieved in the first six months will continue into the second half and that it is targeting for full-year results to be "significantly ahead" of last year.
