An apprentice barman, who claimed he had been detained in a room for two hours while being "grilled" by security men, has failed in his action for damages against his former employer and a firm of security consultants for alleged false imprisonment.

Mr Evan McLoughlin (19), St Cronan's Grove, Swords, told Dublin Circuit Civil Court he had not felt free to leave the room while being questioned.

Joint defendants North County Taverns Ltd, Brackenstown Road, Swords, Co Dublin, and Nightowl Security Ltd, Collinstown House, Main Street, Swords, claimed Mr McLoughlin was being questioned about till procedures.
