Beef Or Salmon will bid to win his second consecutive John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase on Sunday, trainer Michael Hourigan confirmed today.

The top Irish performer suffered an overreach when landing the James Nicholson Wine Merchant Champion Chase at Down Royal last month and his trainer was unsure about running in the Grade One race.

Hourigan had taken Beef Or Salmon to Thurles racecourse for a workout yesterday afternoon, and his performance there appears to have booked his ticket for Punchestown.

"He is declared for Sunday and he will run," said Hourigan. "He is fine and has done plenty of work."
