Belfast International Airport has secured approval to develop a large business park adjacent to the airport with the potential to generate 2,000 jobs.

The airport said it had been given planning permission for a development of over 500,000 square feet for mixed commercial use on 180 acres on the airport site.

Belfast International said development of the Genesis Business Park would take place over five years and that: "It is anticipated that the site will represent an investment of over £30 million sterling".

When fully developed it will have businesses such as air cargo complexes, distribution centres, business and R&D units, freight warehouses, call centres, serviced offices, fitness/leisure suites and related ancillary services.
