Two elderly sisters are today being treated for shock after they were robbed by four masked men in their west Belfast home.
The gang forced its way through the front door of the property on Clonelly Avenue at about 11.30pm last night.
They restrained one of the pensioners and pushed her into a room before making off with cash. Both women received medical treatment for shock.
“Anyone with any information about these heartless thieves should not hesitate in bringing it forward.” SDLP councillor Tim Attwood said.
“Less than two weeks ago, an 80-year-old women was robbed in Rosnareen Avenue, less than five minutes from Clonelly Avenue.”
Sinn Féin’s Paul Maskey said: “I want to encourage neighbours and community activists to come out, as they have done in the past, to support these women and also to keep an eye out for all of the older people living in our communities."
